Sheffield Wednesday are reportedly weighing up a fresh attempt to sign Charlton Athletic striker Jayden Stockley.
The Owls were heavily in for the centre-forward last summer when he opted to leave Preston North End.
But Charlton was always Stockley’s preferred destination with his strong desire to move back down South.
Now The Star are claiming that Wednesday are considering trying again for Stockley and that they no longer have a spending embargo impeding them.
They believe that Stockley could cost in the region of £500,000.
The Star add that Wednesday are “willing to spend, but unsure if Charlton would sell”.
Owls manager Darren Moore wants to bring in a targetman to partner former Millwall man Lee Gregory in their attack. The Yorkshire club reached the League One play-offs last season but lost in the semi-final to Sunderland.
Poole-born Stockley scored 20 goals in 38 matches in all competitions for Charlton last season.
He also attracted interest from Portsmouth last summer but the Addicks secured him on a contract until June 2024.
